You need a Bahrain employer that applies to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) for a work permit in your name. LMRA lists a medical report and a valid passport among the documents. Bahrain is one of the 17 ECR countries, so ECR passport holders need emigration clearance before flying. Do not travel on a visit visa to look for work.
How can an Indian get a job in Bahrain legally?
You need a Bahrain employer that applies to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) for a work permit in your name. LMRA lists a medical report and a valid passport among the documents. Bahrain is one of the 17 ECR countries, so ECR passport holders need emigration clearance before flying. Do not travel on a visit visa to look for work.
In Bahrain the work permit is requested by the employer through the LMRA Expat Management System (EMS). As shown by the LMRA page for a new work permit in October 2026 (last updated 8 July 2026), the service lets employers request a new permit for expatriates hired on their commercial registrations. The permit period chosen must match the period in the employment contract. The page describes the employer's steps, not a route where a job seeker buys a visa alone.
What this means for you: a genuine offer comes from a named Bahrain company with a commercial registration that can apply for the permit. If someone asks you to arrange a Bahrain visa yourself, or to pay for one before there is a named employer, read our overseas job scam guide first. For sectors and employers, see how we describe the Gulf job market for Indian nurses and compare the neighbouring Kuwait, Oman and Qatar guides.

Yes. The Ministry of External Affairs page on emigration abroad for employment says emigration clearance is required only for 17 countries and names Bahrain among them, along with Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The MEA page we read shows a last-updated date of 16 May 2016, so confirm the current list on mea.gov.in and eMigrate before you travel. If you hold an ECNR passport, ECR clearance does not apply, but the Bahrain permit steps still do.
The Embassy of India, Bahrain links an Online Recruitment Process document (PDF) on its Labour and Welfare menu. Use it together with your recruiter or employer, and read our guide to checking whether a recruitment agency is MEA registered.
Search results talk about a flexible or freelance Bahrain permit. LMRA's own pages call the nearest service the registered worker permit and none of the pages we read use the word flexi. The service page says the worker must already be in Bahrain with a terminated work permit, must have no criminal record or absconding offence, must not be in violation of a contract, and that visit visa holders are not eligible. It is applied for through approved Labour Registration Centres.
LMRA lists total initial fees of BHD 267.5 for six months and BHD 365 for one year, including permit issuance, health insurance, residency extension, ticket insurance, a work card and admin fee. These are fees for a worker already in the country, not a route to fly in from India. Anyone selling a Bahrain permit to someone still in India as a registered worker is not following the LMRA service as described. We cannot say from official pages that the route is a scam, only that the official conditions do not allow a person abroad to use it.

The Embassy of India, Bahrain advises coming on a work visa, not a visit visa, and says a business visit visa cannot be converted to a work visa. LMRA's registered worker service also says visit visa holders are not eligible. Wait for a confirmed work permit before you travel.
Yes. The Ministry of External Affairs lists Bahrain among the 17 countries where ECR passport holders need emigration clearance for employment. Confirm the current list on mea.gov.in and eMigrate. ECNR passport holders do not need ECR clearance, but still need the Bahrain permit.
The employer. The LMRA new work permit service is for employers to request a permit for expatriates on their commercial registrations, through the EMS system. You should not be asked to buy a Bahrain work visa on your own.
LMRA's new work permit page, last updated 8 July 2026, says 21 working days for applicants from outside Bahrain and 3 working days for applicants inside Bahrain. That covers LMRA approval, not your medical, ECR clearance or flight. Ask your employer for a written timeline.
LMRA lists employer-side fees of BHD 195 for one year or BHD 390 for two years, a BHD 5 admin fee and a BHD 30 job advertisement fee for applications from outside Bahrain. The page does not say what a worker may be charged. Ask who pays each item and get it in writing.
For an applicant outside Bahrain LMRA says the report must be from a Wafid-accredited centre, be no older than two months and show a fit result. After arrival there is another medical, with appointments generated by the Ministry of Health. LMRA says dependants do not need a medical.
No. LMRA's registered worker permit page says the worker must already be in Bahrain with a terminated work permit and that visit visa holders are not eligible. The pages we read do not use the word flexi. Treat anyone selling it to people abroad with caution.
Contact the LMRA contact centre on +973 17506055 or its Expat Protection Centre, and the Embassy of India, Bahrain, whose Labour section handles complaints about unpaid salary and harassment. Keep your contract, payslips and messages. Confirm contact details on the official sites.
No. We do not guarantee jobs or visas and do not charge job seekers upfront fees under our policy on the Trust page. We do not currently hold an eMigrate recruiting-agent registration, so check any agent yourself before paying anyone.
