Job Spectra
Apply to a named hotel or restaurant employer, ideally through its own careers page, and wait for a signed job offer before you travel. As described on the UAE government portal, the employer obtains the work permit, and the employer bears recruitment, travel and residency costs. Never enter Dubai on a visit visa for an 'interview'.
How can an Indian get a legitimate hospitality job in Dubai?
Apply to a named hotel or restaurant employer, ideally through its own careers page, and wait for a signed job offer before you travel. As described on the UAE government portal, the employer obtains the work permit, and the employer bears recruitment, travel and residency costs. Never enter Dubai on a visit visa for an 'interview'.
Search results for hospitality jobs in Dubai in October 2026 are dominated by job boards and aggregator listings, several with round-number salaries and 'visa, flight and tips included' claims from unnamed companies. A listing is not an offer. A real hospitality hire has a named employer, a job title, a written job offer, and a work permit applied for by that employer.
The UAE government portal (u.ae, work permits page updated 14 October 2026) states that it is illegal to work in the UAE without a valid work permit issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), and that employers may not recruit a worker unless a permit is issued. Confirm on the official page, because rules change. For the general process see our Dubai jobs checklist and Dubai work visa guide.
Role names above are common job-board categories, not an official list. The u.ae pages we read do not publish hospitality-specific salary scales, and state that the UAE Labour Law sets no minimum salary, only that wages must meet basic needs. Treat any salary quoted by a blog or aggregator as unverified until it appears in your own signed offer.
| Area | Typical roles | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Food and beverage service | Waiter, hostess, food runner, barista, cashier | Named restaurant or hotel, written offer, salary in AED, who pays for the visa |
| Kitchen | Commis, cook, chef de partie, kitchen steward | Offer states role and workplace; any trade test is arranged by the employer, not paid by you |
| Front office and guest services | Receptionist, night auditor, guest relations officer | Employer's hotel is licensed and classified in Dubai (see below) |
| Housekeeping and laundry | Room attendant, public-area cleaner, laundry attendant | Whether accommodation and transport are in the contract, because the UAE pages we read do not set this for hotels |
| Events and banqueting | Banquet server, event coordinator, steward | Whether the work is full time, part time or temporary, because the UAE contract types differ |
Hotels and restaurants often run shift rosters, split shifts and late nights. The working-hours page we read says the rules can differ for some sectors, and exempts shift workers from one overtime rule, but it does not say how this applies to hospitality, so read the roster and overtime clause in your own offer and ask HR to explain it in writing. Take a photo of your signed offer and keep it.
| Item | What the official page says | Source page |
|---|---|---|
| Contents | Must specify start date, type of work, workplace, terms and conditions, duration and salary | u.ae: job offers and the employment process |
| Match to offer | Contract terms must be consistent with the job offer signed in your home country | u.ae: protection of workers' rights |
| Filing | Submitted to MoHRE within 14 days of arrival | u.ae: job offers and the employment process |
| Duration | Fixed term not exceeding three years, renewable | u.ae: job offers and the employment process |
| Probation | Must not exceed six months; employer needs 14 days written notice to end it | u.ae: employment contracts and models |
| Working hours | Normal hours are 8 per day or 48 per week, and the page says hours may vary for certain sectors or categories of worker | u.ae: working hours and overtime |
| Overtime | Not more than two extra hours a day; basic pay plus 25 per cent, rising to 50 per cent between 10 pm and 4 am; the 25 per cent rule does not apply to workers on shifts | u.ae: working hours and overtime |
| Salary payment | Paid through the Wage Protection System; previous month's salary is due on the first day of each month | u.ae: payment of salaries and wages |
The u.ae page on workers' rights quotes the UAE 'Know Your Rights' guide: the costs of recruitment and travel, and the expenses of obtaining your residency permit, are to be borne by the employer you agree to contract with. The same page states that charging recruitment fees to prospective employees is illegal in the UAE. The u.ae recruiting page adds that the employer bears the cost of the AED 3,000 bank guarantee per registered employee and must pay the approval fees within the 60-day validity of the work permit.
In practice, treat any request that you pay for a 'hotel visa', 'interview slot', 'medical slot' or 'uniform deposit' before a signed offer exists as a red flag, and read our scam guide. For an Indian agent's own limit, see the service charge guide. The official pages we read do not say whether a hotel may deduct uniform or accommodation costs from pay, so ask in writing.
The Ministry of External Affairs page on emigration abroad for employment says clearance is required for ECR passport holders going to any of 17 ECR countries for employment, and its list includes the UAE. Persons with ECR passports going for purposes other than employment do not need it, so the rule depends on your passport category and your purpose. Check whether your passport is ECR, then read our ECR passport guide and eMigrate guide. Confirm the current list on the MEA and eMigrate sites, as the page itself carries its own last-updated date.

It is risky. The UAE government portal says it is illegal to work without a valid MoHRE work permit, and a visit visa gives you no employment contract. Ask for a signed job offer and employer-applied permit first, and read our fake job offer guide.
The u.ae workers' rights page quotes the UAE 'Know Your Rights' guide saying the employer bears recruitment, travel and residency costs, and that charging recruitment fees to prospective employees is illegal. Keep receipts and confirm in writing.
Both occur. The u.ae employment process page says the employer sends the signed job offer to the worker directly, through a recruitment agency, or via a designated entity. Verify any Indian agent on eMigrate and insist on an offer from the employer.
The u.ae pages say the contract must state start date, type of work, workplace, terms and conditions, duration and salary, and must match the signed offer. The offer is in Arabic and English plus a third language you understand.
The u.ae page gives normal hours as 8 per day or 48 per week, with overtime up to two hours a day at a premium. It also says hours can differ for some sectors and does not detail hospitality, so read your contract roster.
We found no readable official page setting how tips or service charges are shared with staff, so we state no rule. Treat 'tips included' in an advert as unverified and ask the employer to explain in writing before you accept.
If your passport is ECR and you go for employment, the MEA page says clearance is needed for the UAE as one of the 17 ECR countries. ECNR passport holders are not covered. Check your passport and the eMigrate site before you travel.
We could not confirm the current requirement from a readable official page. Training and health checks may apply, but secondary sources disagree on validity. Ask the employer and Dubai Municipality, and do not pay an agent for the certificate.
No. We do not guarantee jobs or visas and do not currently hold an eMigrate recruiting-agent registration. Our no-upfront-job-fees policy is on the Trust page. Check any agent yourself before paying anyone.
