Dubai remains the single largest overseas destination for Indian talent in 2026. More than 3.5 million Indians live and work in the UAE — roughly a third of the country''s population — and Dubai continues to lead recruitment across construction, hospitality, healthcare, logistics, IT and skilled trades. This guide is written by the Dubai head-office team at Job Spectra for Indian candidates who want an honest, end-to-end view of what it actually takes to land, keep and grow a job in Dubai.
Who this guide is for
Indian passport holders — from Bihar to Bengaluru — evaluating a move to Dubai for work. Whether you are a diploma-holding steel fixer, a DHA-eligible staff nurse, a hotel F&B captain, a warehouse supervisor, or a software engineer chasing a Golden Visa, the visa, medical and MOHRE-contract mechanics below apply to you.
1. The visa options — and which one is right for you
Under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 every private-sector employee must hold a MOHRE work permit and a residency visa issued by the GDRFA. The most common pathways for Indians are:
- Employment (work) visa — sponsored by a UAE employer. This is what 90% of our placements use. Fully employer-funded on the roles we work on.
- Golden Visa (5–10 years) — for eligible professionals, investors, specialised talent, top students and scientists. See u.ae Golden Visa.
- Green Visa (5 years, self-sponsored) — freelancers, skilled employees earning AED 15,000+ and investors.
- Job Exploration / Jobseeker Visa (60–120 days) — visit Dubai to interview in person before signing a contract. Detailed at u.ae.
- Family / dependent visa — sponsored by a resident once the salary threshold and Ejari (tenancy) conditions are met.
If any recruiter tells you to fly in on a tourist visa and "adjust later" without a signed offer letter, walk away.
2. Top industries hiring Indians in 2026
Based on live requirements across our UAE client base:

- Hospitality — Rotana, Accor, Marriott, IHG and Hilton properties recruit waiters, commis chefs, kitchen stewards, housekeeping and F&B supervisors. AED 1,600–4,500 + service charge + accommodation.

3. The documents every Indian candidate needs
- Passport — valid for at least 6 months, minimum 2 blank pages.
- Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) — from your local passport office or via Passport Seva.
- Educational and professional certificates — attested by MEA and further attested by the UAE Embassy in Delhi. Healthcare and engineering also need DataFlow verification.
- eMigrate registration — mandatory for ECR passport holders through emigrate.gov.in.
- Trade test certificate — for construction and skilled trades, done at our Bihar centre or the employer''s trade-test facility. See how our Sugauli centre verifies candidates.
- GAMCA medical fitness — booked through wafid.com at an approved GCC medical centre.
4. The GAMCA medical — what actually gets tested
Every Indian candidate bound for the UAE must clear the GAMCA / Wafid medical: chest X-ray, HIV, Hepatitis B and C, syphilis (VDRL), malaria, pregnancy (for female candidates) and a urine screen. Common disqualifiers are active TB, untreated Hepatitis B, and — for some categories — uncontrolled diabetes or hypertension. Repeat the medical only through a Wafid-approved centre; results from unapproved labs are not accepted by GDRFA.
5. Reading a UAE offer letter correctly
Never sign an offer letter that hides the basic salary. Under UAE labour law, gratuity, overtime and end-of-service benefits are calculated on basic salary only — not on the total package. Insist on seeing:
- Basic salary, housing allowance, transport allowance and total gross — each shown separately.
- Contract type (limited or unlimited) and probation duration (max 6 months).
- Working hours, weekly off, and overtime calculation.
- Ticket policy (annual return ticket to India — usually every 2 years).
- Notice period and end-of-service gratuity formula.
The MOHRE contract signed after you land must match the offer letter you signed in India. If it doesn''t, refuse to sign — this is your strongest legal moment.
6. How the placement actually flows — Bihar to Dubai in 30 days
- Job Spectra shortlist and trade-test at our Sugauli / East Champaran centre.
- Client interview (video or in-person) and written offer letter.
- MEA + UAE Embassy document attestation and eMigrate clearance.
- MOHRE work permit (Tasheel) filed by the Dubai employer.
- Entry permit issued and emailed to the candidate.
- Wafid / GAMCA medical booked and cleared in India.
- Flight ticket issued by employer; airport pickup coordinated by our Dubai team.
- UAE-side medical, Emirates ID biometrics, and residency visa stamping via GDRFA.
- MOHRE contract signed, WPS payroll activated, onboarding on employer site.
End-to-end runs 25–35 days for individual placements and 40–55 days for bulk mobilisations of 20+ workers.
7. Salary, cost of living and what you actually take home
A steel fixer on AED 1,800 basic + AED 700 allowances (food + accommodation covered) typically remits AED 1,800–2,200 home each month — roughly ₹40,000–₹50,000. A DHA-licensed staff nurse on AED 8,000 gross with own accommodation can remit AED 4,000–5,500 (₹90,000–₹1,25,000). Use the UAE Exchange or Al Ansari for regulated remittance.
8. Your rights — and how to enforce them
The UAE labour system is not perfect, but it has a working grievance mechanism. If your employer withholds wages, doesn''t pay overtime, or breaches the contract:
- Call MOHRE at 600 590000 or file a complaint at mohre.gov.ae complaints.
- Escalate to the Indian Consulate in Dubai: cgidubai.gov.in.
- Use the MADAD portal from the Government of India for consular grievance tracking.
Our Dubai office backs every placed candidate through the full MOHRE process. We do not disappear once the fee is invoiced.
9. Red flags — how to spot a fake Dubai job
- Recruiter asks for a placement fee to "hold the visa" — illegal under Indian and UAE law for employer-funded roles.
- Offer letter is on a Gmail-hosted domain with no MOHRE reference.
- You''re told to travel on a visit visa and "sign contract in Dubai".
- Salary quoted in "total" only, with no basic-salary breakdown.
- Agent refuses to share the employer''s legal trade licence number.
Every Job Spectra placement is documented under a written service agreement with the employer, and every candidate sees the employer''s trade licence and MOHRE establishment card before signing.
